About me

I'm Jonas Landt

... and I have worked with interfaces, interactivity, and aesthetics since I graduated as a Master of IT specialized in Multimedia in 2006. Initially in Flash, then in open web standards. I have built everything from educational material to campaign sites and large commerce and content ecosystems. I have worked on purchase flows, complex forms, and exploratory content. I work best close to visual designers and UX designers when an interface, a system, and a digital identity need to find their final form. I believe good craft should be visible in the details, in the interaction, in accessibility, and in the language we use to describe and present a product, as well as the language we build with code. Technologies and trends come and go, but my foundation is still HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I am generally unimpressed by frameworks, and I prefer to work with the core web technologies independently of third-party libraries.

Craft & stack

My stack shifts with the project, but these are the tools I keep returning to when quality, consistency, and delivery all need to hold.

React
React has become an indispensable way to build modern web interfaces, and it's a foundation for many of the projects I work with.
Next.js
Next.js is a practical shortcut to modern website architecture. You get routing, SSR and performance optimization out of the box, and it saves a lot of code.
TypeScript
TypeScript brings type safety into a dynamic language, so you avoid runtime errors and can explicitly document API contracts.
Storybook
Storybook is a central development tool for me because it isolates components from app complexity and enables iterative design without detours.
SCSS
SCSS with nested syntax and variables makes CSS maintenance predictable in large component systems, where naming conflicts can quickly become unmanageable.
Accessibility
Interfaces must work for all people, regardless of ability or device. It's not an optional feature—it's a fundamental responsibility.
Performance
Slow interfaces undermine user experience and engagement, no matter how beautiful the design is. Performance is therefore not optional—it's a design discipline.
Responsive Design
Interfaces must work on phone, tablet and desktop simultaneously. Mobile-first thinking ensures you're not building a desktop site and then just shrinking it.
Git & CI/CD
I've worked with Git for version control over many years. CI/CD pipelines automate testing and deployment, so code reaches production without manual overhead.
JavaScript
JavaScript is the foundation for all interactivity on the web. It's the language I return to again and again, regardless of which framework I'm using.
Vue 2
I've built and maintained production interfaces in Vue 2, with a focus on stable component contracts and iterative improvement over time.
CSS Modules
CSS Modules automatically prevent naming conflicts in large component systems by scoping styles to the individual file. It eliminates an entire class of errors.
Tailwind CSS
Tailwind significantly accelerates iteration by providing utility classes out of the box. It's pragmatic when prototyping matters more than custom design from day one.
GSAP
GSAP is the most robust library for complex animation timelines. When motion needs to be precise and performant, it's the tool I reach for.
Framer Motion
Framer Motion brings React's declarative approach into motion design, so animations become part of component logic instead of separate JavaScript.
Web Audio API
Web Audio API opens possibilities for sound design and music directly in the browser without external plugins. It unlocks entirely new design possibilities.
Zustand
Zustand keeps state management minimal without Redux boilerplate. When you don't need devtools and middleware, you save significant code and complexity.
